Blackpool got its name form a stream of dark water draining from the moss area around Marton back in the early 1400’s. A stream ran though the marshland which turned the water black, hence the name.
Blackpool became the first town to introduce electric street lights in 1879 with the Illuminations starting in 1912.

There’s plenty to do at Pleasure Beach, including over 100 rides, attractions and spectacular shows. Ride on the Pepsi Max Big One, once the world’s tallest coaster. Turn your world upside down & get ready to do it again on the Revolution or experience the classic twin tracked coaster the Grand National.
